Melbourne‑based architect and designer David Goss, founder of multi‑disciplinary practice Studio Goss, shares his 12 definitive design products for 2025—spanning furniture, lighting, materials and kitchen appliances.
Our ‘Definitive Design Products’ series was first featured inside est magazine issue 56: ‘Living Connection’.
01. Tacchini Le Mura
“It’s a bold, sculptural sofa that is both heavy and soft,” Goss says of the Tacchini Le Mura, designed by Italian architect Mario Bellini. Its modular blocks balance cushioned seating with a rectilinear silhouette. “The simplicity of its form works well in any composition,” he adds.
02. Made by Storey Chestnut
Finished in a matt lacquer, Australian timber brand Made by Storey‘s Chestnut is russet-toned with roasted umber grains. “It’s an elegant walnut floor in a rich but subtle shade,” Goss says.
03. Akari 21N Floor Lamp
Designed by Japanese designer Isamu Noguchi, the Akari 21N features mulberry-bark washi paper stretched over a bamboo rib. “Its oversized, organic pebble form casts the most magical glow,” Goss says.

Australian-founded rug brand Armadillo’s Cable collection in Jade is handwoven in a pronounced soumak weave, combining Italian and Argentinian wools. “The whole collection has beautiful textures, and Jade is the most perfect shade of green,” Goss explains.
06. Cassina Plana Coffee Table
“I love how its simple form sits comfortably in a variety of settings,” Goss says of the Cassina Plana coffee table by French architect and designer Charlotte Perriand, with a solid timber base supporting a gently curved timber tabletop.

08. Pholc Apollo 14 Wall Lamp
With a raw-finish surface in solid aluminium or brass and a subtle wall-mounted profile, Swedish lighting brand Pholc’s Apollo 14 wall lamp is, as Goss describes, “sharp and simple,” with clean lines and a functional form.
09. Tacchini Pigreco
The first product designed by Italian designer Tobia Scarpa, the Tacchini Pigreco chair features a lightweight frame, curved armrests and a contoured seat. Goss notes that it’s “sculptural, simple and beautifully detailed”.
