As part of our Definitive Design Products series, we spoke with Melbourne-based Sally Caroline interior atelier founder Sally Knibbs about her 12 standout selections in furniture, materials, lighting and kitchen appliances for 2025.
Our ‘Definitive Design Products’ series was first featured inside est magazine issue 56: ‘Living Connection’.
01. Cassina 412 Cab Chair
“They suit every dining room,” Knibbs says of the Cassina 412 Cab chair by Italian architect and designer Mario Bellini—the world’s first self-supported saddle-hide chair. “They’re a great investment, they hold their value, and they can be wiped down easily if you have young children.”
02. Monti Graphic Armchair
Knibbs describes the Monti Graphic armchair by French architect and interior designer Laura Gonzalez as “cosy, cute and compact.” The piece stands out for its upholstered wave-shaped backrest and playful lacquered wooden ball feet.
03. Edra Standard Sofa
For Knibbs, the Edra Standard sofa by Italian designer Francesco Binfaré is “the perfect balance of form and function.” It features deep seats and adjustable back and armrests, making it “incredibly comfortable and flexible, yet sculptural and sleek enough for any interior.”

04. Brodware Manhattan Range
The Australian-made Brodware Manhattan range, according to Knibbs, offers a “classic but not old-fashioned” selection of metal finishes, designed to complement a wide range of home accessories.
05. Made by Storey Almond
With its “consistent colour and perfect mid-range tone,” the Melbourne-based Made by Storey Almond flooring is, to Knibbs, a natural fit for the varied nature of her interior design work. It features a smooth European oak base layered with complex ashen tones that bring out the wood’s natural texture.
06. Agapecasa Eros Cloud Coffee Table
Crafted from marble, the Agapecasa Eros Cloud coffee table by Italian architect and industrial designer Angelo Mangiarotti features gravity-based joints and conical legs that create a floating illusion, making it, as Knibbs describes, “calm, but quirky; a forever timeless piece.”

07. Sun Valley Bronze Range
Described by Knibbs as “tactile and heavy-weight with a handcrafted feel,” the family-owned, American-based Sun Valley Bronze is renowned for its solid bronze architectural hardware—from doors and windows to kitchens and bathrooms.
08. Monde Singulier Stellata Floor Lamp
The Monde Singulier Stellata floor light by French architect and designer François Bazin—“Stellata” meaning “starred” in Latin—is inspired by the magnolia blossom. The lamp features a body of chrome and brushed steel that Knibbs describes as “classic, but bold.”
09. Dulux Venetian Plaster
Knibbs frequently incorporates Dulux Venetian plaster range in her designs, drawn to its “soft, polished, and textural” finishes and wide variety of colours and tones. In particular, she “loves its waterproof element, too,” appreciating its practicality for family homes.

10. Lacanche Classic Freestanding Oven
Blending traditional French construction with custom metal craftsmanship, the Lacanche Freestanding Classic oven range is praised by Knibbs for its “classic, timeless feel.” She adds that the range offers “various finishes to suit different kitchens,” including 24 enamelled colours and metal options.
11. Sub-Zero and Wolf Classic Series Refrigerator
According to Knibbs, “nothing beats Sub-Zero and Wolf for longevity.” She adds, “I typically prefer their fully integrated range, but their freestanding stainless steel fridges are perfect for a more industrial-style kitchen.”
12. Signorino Silver Vein-Cut Travertine
Knibbs describes vein-cut silver travertine as “calm with a little personality”—a natural stone she favours for its subtle movement and soft, tonal variation that adds depth without overwhelming a space.
