Carter Williamson is an award-winning architecture studio recognised for design excellence across homes, multi-residential projects and public buildings. Founded in 2004, the practice creates work that balances creativity with rigour, ambition with care, and playfulness with precision.
Led by Principals Shaun Carter and Ben Peake, the studio brings together architects and designers united by curiosity, craft and purpose. Collaboration and open dialogue underpin every project, guided by a belief that good design should enrich daily life.
The studio’s philosophy is grounded in the idea that architecture can create joy, connection and longevity. Each building is shaped to bring people together, to heighten the experience of place and to endurance and grace over time.
Shaun Carter is a Life Fellow of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects and a Registered Architect with the NSW Architects Registration Board, as well as a NSW Design Practitioner accredited with the DBPA. Ben Peake is a Registered Architect with the NSW Architects Registration Board and a member of the Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA). The practice also holds A+ Membership with the Australian Institute of Architects.
The current practice delivers a mix of typologies: from waterfront residential projects to heritage interventions, from high-end hospitality to student housing and apartment buildings. Each is approached with the same aplomb, the same seeking of joy while always understanding the pragmatic nature of where budget and aspiration meet.
