A Piece of Piermont

  • If you’ve been lucky enough to visit in the past, the Piermont Retreat is one of those immersive places that blend into the surrounding wilderness, the kind that make you feel instantly at ease as you embrace the natural world. Now the retreat is adding a small number of waterfront properties for those wanting to make their coastal escape last a little longer.

Envisaged for “the curious, the cultured, the escapist and the wanderist”, Piermont have assembled an a-team of design talent to bring the 32 properties to life: awarded architects JCB, landscape designers McGregor Coxall and one of our favourite local interior design studios Hecker Guthrie.

The design reaches out to the Freycinet Coast wholeheartedly, encouraging an indoor-outdoor lifestyle with bi-fold timber shutters that can be closed down or expanded out to the sea views, while natural, locally-sourced elements like stone, timber and native plants ground the buildings in their surrounds and build on the serenity of the natural landscape.

The interior design emphasises craftsmanship and quality, drawing on tactile materials like local timber, stone, marble, hides and linens in moody hues.

While the cottages are situated on their own blocks north of the retreat, owners can still enjoy the perks of the retreat’s luxury accommodation, including the award-winning restaurant Homestead, swimming pool, tennis court, private beaches and walking trails.
