Embracing its natural surroundings, VH Residence by Charlotte Vercruysse is a reimagined contemporary retreat in the seaside town of Knokke, Belgium.
On Belgium’s northern coastline, interior designer Charlotte Vercruysse transformed an existing Knokke villa into a family sanctuary by using the fundamental design elements of space, light and proportion.
Large bifold glass doors open out to the garden throughout the home, creating a sense of spaciousness together with the open floor plan while framing the green outlook. This is underpinned by a subtle material palette of rosewood, oak, and Carrara marble that cultivates warmth.

Inspired by the homeowners’ appreciation for art and design, Charlotte aimed to craft meaningful spaces that fuse bold accent pieces with contemporary design elements. “The home reflects a deep understanding of both the space and the client’s personality, creating a home that is both timeless and personal,” Charlotte affirms. While the overall palette is warm and muted, select moments of colour add a sense of character. The dining area features a striking combination of a bone-inlay dining table in earthy hues, a sculptural brass Osaka pendant designed by Jules Wabbes, Fredericia J39 chairs, and a tonal blue artwork, introducing depth against the soft backdrop. In contrast, the home office is wrapped in an elegant petrol blue, fostering a more intimate setting.
