Home Tour | Private Residence Giraudoux by Dora Hart

In the kitchen, a cohesive use of materials includes custom timber joinery, custom metallic-effect paint, marble and mirror baseboards.

A light-filled Parisian residence nestled in the heart of the city embodies refined elegance and contemporary design.

Located in the 16th arrondissement, surrounded by museums and embassies, the Haussman-style apartment is a recent project by Paris-based interior designer and architect Dora Hart. Recognised for creating environments that reflect the personalities and lifestyles of her clients while incorporating functional and sustainable elements, the ambitious renovation project retains the home’s historically significant hallmarks while blending an inherently timeless and contemporary aesthetic.

The dining room features an Angelo Mangiarotti bronze and glass dining table with vintage Vilhelm Wolhert dining chairs and a pendant light by Apparatus Studio.

An arm stool designed by Gio Ponti in 1950 sits in the dining room.

When entering the residence, an atmosphere of refined warmth transcends the space, where clean lines and subtle tones are gently punctuated by the considered use of materiality and colour through marble, custom metallic surfaces, differing timbers, bronze and terracotta tiles. Notably, the home’s original staircase, with its organic curves, has been restored by Dora using an arresting custom silver metallic palladium leaf application.

Dora’s custom-design language also manifests in the master bedroom, where she designed the headboard and pendant lights, while in the home’s elegant central living room, a custom-designed sofa and rug also by Dora meld harmoniously with thoughtfully selected pieces of art. The kitchen strikes a seamless balance between form and function, with a cohesive use of materials such as custom timber joinery offset by marble benchtops, custom metallic-effect paint, marble and mirror baseboards.

The apartment’s living room includes a custom-designed sofa and rug by Dora Hart and a vintage ‘Butterfly’ coffee table with a custom-made glass top.

The residence’s sculptural staircase was designed by Dora Hart with a custom silver metallic palladium leaf finish.

Through her upbringing split between Tunis and Paris, Dora has cultivated an appreciation for artistic diversity and a keen eye for refinement. Her aesthetic approach is deeply influenced by her love for art and culture, as well as the history and music of the spaces she inhabits and their context. The elements of this Parisian residence are a testament to this.
