The dining room located on the home’s lower level, surrounded by trees, evokes a sense of calm.
Using nature as a fundamental force in shaping its outcome, a residence harmoniously adapts to the natural topography of its surrounding site, while seamlessly blending into lush tree surroundings.
Located in a verdant forest in Valle de Bravo near Mexico City, Copas House by architects Perez Palacios Arquitectos Asociados (PPAA) is a minimalist, multi-faceted residence that sits gently among the treetops, quietly immersed in privacy.
With the design intention of creating a connection between the dwelling and the established trees that are hallmarks of the site, the studio developed an upper-level floor plan to elevate the home’s public-facing areas, including the terrace, by designing a series of dynamic platforms. These platforms allow the homeowners to experience the spaces in different ways while connecting them with the surrounding tree canopies. This considered design intent allows the built form to seamlessly blend into the landscape while also establishing a dialogue between nature and the home’s interiors.
The home’s bedrooms are strategically located on the lower level to ensure privacy and an innate sense of calm provided by the trees’ foliage. The overall concept of Copas gives a sense of climbing a mountain, where residents and visitors ascend through the home and are rewarded with an awe-inspiring view as the surrounding scenery unfolds, highlighting the seamless integration of architecture and nature.
