Framing Nature | Hibernate Outdoors Presents the NoMud Collection

Bridging function and presence, Hibernate Outdoors introduces the NoMud collection—a series of planters shaped by soft, textured forms that trace the rhythms of the natural landscape.

Within contemporary design, planters are rarely just functional—they shape space, introduce texture, and bring the natural world into interiors and landscaped exteriors.

Driven by a desire to create planters that feel organic and sculptural without the weight of traditional materials, Sydney-based garden accessory manufacturer Hibernate Outdoors presents the NoMud Collection—a series of three polyfibre planter styles whose soft forms are durable, lightweight and versatile.

“For NoMud, we were drawn to texture; the kind that adds warmth, depth and visual interest, but still feels contemporary and refined, rather than rustic,” Matthew Cantwell, creative director at Hibernate Outdoors, says. “The handcrafted process we use allows for a subtle finish variation, giving each piece a sense of individuality while still maintaining consistency across the range.”

Building on Hibernate Outdoors’ signature clean, considered shapes, NoMud adapts across indoor spaces, balconies, courtyards and larger landscaped environments. The collection comprises three groups—the 10°, 86° and 89°—available in sizes small to XXL. The 89°’s tall, narrow profile supports trees and shrubs in constrained spaces such as balconies and terraces, while the lower, wider 10° and 86° offer versatility for courtyards, gardens and interiors.

By blending textural warmth with refined geometry, NoMud creates a calm, grounded presence that enhances both interior and exterior spaces.

Using polyfibre enabled the exploration of soft, architectural shapes that would be difficult to achieve with traditional materials, such as concrete or clay.

“The range expands our offering with shapes that are specifically designed to be adaptable, while still maintaining a small footprint,” Cantwell explains. “Additionally, polyfibre offers significant advantages over traditional materials; it is far lighter than ceramic or concrete, yet highly durable and weather resistant.”

The collection’s flexibility extends to four earthy colour options—Chalk, Flax, Peat and Char—which can be arranged individually in clusters, or at scale for commercial projects.

“We see NoMud as a highly flexible design tool,” Cantwell says. “For designers and architects, the collection offers planters that can be used to define space, create privacy and support structured planting. The result is a range that feels grounded, natural and effortless to use across a variety of spaces.”

"NoMud builds on Hibernate Outdoors’ focus on clean, considered forms, but introduces a more textural and organic layer to the collection. While many of our existing ranges lean into smooth, architectural finishes, NoMud adds softness and tactility without losing structure or restraint."
