Melbourne based architect and interior designer, Travis Walton may have been busy undertaking projects further afield in New York, London and Bali over the past 12 months but it was a local residential project in Melbourne’s South Yarra that caught our attention earlier this year here. Now we take a look at a recent commercial project based just a little further up the road in Prahran after the designer was commissioned by the latest designer juice company to hit the scene, Greene Street Juice Co.
While owner and founder, Natalie Warner may have fate to thank for stepping in and changing the course of her life after relocating to NYC in 2012 with a new found desire to nourish her mind, body and spirit, it is Travis Walton who Natalie has to thank for designing this stunning new flagship store with its Soho-esque aesthetic references.
Natural timbers have been used in both display cabinetry and as a wall feature where diagonal walnut timber battens effectively work to add both height and visual interest to what could have been an otherwise stark, open plan space. White steel, marble and perforated plywood wall panels painted in white add to the cool Manhattan vibe with oversized timber pegs adding to the laid back, street style vibe.
The custom made fridge lined in black and with recessed uplighting allows Warner’s signature Greene Street Juice Co glass bottle and logo to really take centre stage as the star of the store. With names like Empire State, The Bronx, Enlightening Liberty and New York Minute, Walton’s corner store design certainly captures the spirit of the Greene Street Juice Co and the very products it sells.
