The Lotus Chair was designed in 1969 by professor of mathematics at Santa Cruz University- Daniel Wenger. The frame is designed from powder-coated steel, which allows a spring and rhythmic sway to the seat adding comfort and flexibility. The sling consists of Latigo leather which allows the seat to be both supple and durable. Originally designed to make the meditation process more comfortable, it allows for sitting in a lotus position but is equally comfortable as a lounge chair. The Lotus continues to be handmade by Daniel in his workshop in Santa Cruz today.
