Space Copenhagen

Space Copenhagen

Danish design studio Space Copenhagen was founded in 2005 by Signe Bindslev Henriksen and Peter Bundgaard Rützou, both graduates of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts’ School of Architecture. The studio works across interiors, furniture, lighting and art direction.

Space Copenhagen is renowned for what it calls poetic modernism: a mix of Danish craftsmanship, tactile materials and subdued, moody colour. It first came to wide attention through the interiors of the original Noma restaurant in Copenhagen, and has since designed restaurants and hotels around the world, including 11 Howard in New York. Its furniture includes the Fly sofa and chair, Loafer lounge chair and Thorvald chair for &Tradition, the Moon table and Stay lounge chair for GUBI, The Lounge Chair for Mater and the Sequoia pouf for Fredericia.

The studio has helped shape the contemporary image of Scandinavian hospitality, bringing warmth and atmosphere to a tradition often associated with restraint.
