Pierre Paulin

Pierre Paulin

Born in Paris (1927 – 2009), Pierre Paulin is known for introducing a sleek new space-age aesthetic into French furniture design in the 1960s and ’70s. His work has become synonymous with chic, forward-looking design and emerging technologies.

The flowing lines and almost surreal naturalistic forms of his pieces, work well in both contemporary decor or when used as a counterpoint to traditional pieces. Pierre Paulin’s designs added a touch of modernity to the Elysée Palace for President Pompidou in 1971, with the Pumpkin Armchair winning a Red Dot award. Paulin’s pieces are found in various museum collections around the world including MOMA, New York.
