The adjoining conservatory features tiger-print rugs and ice-glass chandeliers.
Cradled by a UNESCO World Heritage valley, Mallorca’s Hotel Corazón invites London-based Tatjana von Stein to remodel its farm-to-table restaurant and adjoining conservatory.
Hotel Corazón is located on a winding road through Mallorca’s Serra de Tramuntana, between the inland village of Sóller and the coastal village of Deià. The brainchild of first-time hoteliers and creatives Kate Bellm and Edgar Lopez, the 15-room hotel opened in mid-2024 as a shrine for freedom, art, nature and discovery. Taking up residence inside an 18th-century finca, with surrounding farmland, a restaurant, an art space, and a shop, all of Hotel Corazón’s facets attest to its pursuit of an otherworldly experience.
Earlier this year, the hotel expanded its terrace and redesigned its restaurant and conservatory, led by an entirely female team. Working with London-based designer Tatjana von Stein, the open-air restaurant is suspended among the treetops, where custom seating for lounging and semi-circular dining clusters sing the same relaxed, cosmopolitan songsheet.
Designer Tatjana von Stein’s sunset-hued palette and custom stone tables honour the finca’s mountain setting.
Crafted across Spain and Portugal, the bespoke seating reflects Hotel Corazón’s commitment to local artistry.
Suspended among the treetops, the hotel’s newly expanded terrace and open-air restaurant takes in Mallorca’s Serra de Tramuntana.
Head chef Eliza Parchanska and farmer-in-residence Emma Philips deliver a true Corazón immersion, with organic produce sourced directly from the hotel’s orchard and vegetable garden.
Following the brief for comfort and cohesion, von Stein considered how the outdoor setting could be fully utilised, with new features such as retractable shading. Keeping the mountain peaks front and centre, the designer didn’t stray from the hotel’s existing sunset scheme of pink, red, orange and mustard, and local material palette.
The designer commissioned a local stonemason to create custom tables in the pink marbles Alicante and Indian Fantasy, and had the burwood lounges made on the island. The chairs were crafted in mainland Spain, and the dining benches with sun motifs in nearby Portugal. Sitting up at the bar, the sun-and-moon symbolism continues in the stools with zebra-print cushions, and this anthropomorphic theming extends into the adjoining conservatory, with tiger-print rugs and ice-glass chandeliers.
The full Hotel Corazón sensory immersion is felt in tastes of organic produce from the hotel’s farm, thanks to head chef Eliza Parchanska and farmer-in-residence Emma Philips. Growing herbs and seasonal staples on-site, both through the orchard and vegetable garden, the kitchen is supplemented by organic suppliers and native ingredients from the island.
As the evening light fades on the arid mountain peaks and the sounds of the surrounding agricultural landscape quieten from the terrace, Hotel Corazón’s new hospitality offering cements its place as a destination for elemental indulgence and easy living.
As dusk settles over the Tramuntana peaks, the terrace comes into its own.
Set within an 18th-century finca surrounded by farmland, Hotel Corazón brings together rooms, a restaurant, an art space and a shop.
