Rounding out our Definitive Design Products series for 2025, interior designer Brahman Perera reveals his 12 top-line picks—spanning furniture, lighting, materials and kitchen appliances.
Our ‘Definitive Design Products’ series was first featured inside est magazine issue 56: ‘Living Connection’.
01. PINCH Anders Wall Light
Perera highlights the Anders wall sconce by British design studio PINCH. Machined from solid brass or bronze, with a compact profile, it emphasises proportion and finish with a pared-back construction.
02. Gervasoni Nuvola 09
Designed by Italian architect and designer Paola Navone, the Gervasoni Nuvola 09 features a multilayer wooden frame, polyurethane foam upholstery, and a removable cover for practicality. “It’s best when you sit across it with your legs swung over the side—it’s basically a chair that feels like a bed!”
03. Fred Ganim Round Table 01
Australian furniture designer Fred Ganim’s Round table 01 features a circular top and expressive base. Perera has “always loved the sculptural quality and workmanship,” adding that the marble version with Agglomerati offers a more ambitious alternative when budgets allow.

04. David Weeks Studio Otto Pendant Duo
Perera is drawn to the Duo Otto pendant by American designer David Weeks, which pairs hand-spun metal shades in a double formation. Its linear design makes it ideal for spaces that require a restrained yet expressive overhead presence.
05. Arflex Ben Ben Sofa
Restoring the original 1974 Bengodi model, Cini Boeri’s Ben Ben sofa for Arflex balances generous proportions with cushioned comfort. Perera calls it “a foolproof sofa where comfort is key,” noting it as his go-to for “a democratic lounge (for families!)—comfort above all else.”
06. Evenex PaperWall Clear Oak
Rather than matching timbers throughout a project, Perera prefers to layer them, often specifying Australian surface supplier Elton Group’s Evenex Paperwall in clear oak. “Mixing makes a space feel more lived in and real, like a collection rather than a matchy-match,” he says.

07. Oigall Projects Wood ST Lamp
Designed and crafted by Melbourne-based studio BMDO, the Wood Street lamp combines a turned timber structure with a fabric shade. “I have one with a fabric hand-dyed in turmeric,” Perera says.
08. Porter’s Paints Bluefin
For paint, Perera turns to Australian-founded Porter’s Paints, known for hand-crafted finishes with high pigment content. “Their colours have real depth and feeling,” he says, singling out Bluefin—or “Brem blue”—as a long-standing favourite.
09. NAU Molloy Chair
When it comes to dining chairs, Perera prefers “more than one type” to avoid a boardroom table feel. One of his go-to options is the NAU Molloy chair by Australian industrial designer Adam Goodrum—crafted from solid walnut, with a sculpted seat and curved backrest.

10. Wolf 91cm Dual Fuel Range
Specifying American appliance manufacturer Wolf for ovens, Perera highlights the 91cm dual fuel range, which combines gas burners with an electric oven. “Red knobs only!” he clarifies.
11. Alessi Kettle 9093
“I like the ritual of making tea—not quickly,” Perera says. Designed by American architect Michael Graves for Alessi, the 9093 kettle is cast in polished stainless steel and finished with its signature bird-shaped whistle.
12. Sub-Zero Classic Series Side-by-Side Refrigerator/Freezer
For refrigerators, Perera values their longevity and performance. Built by American appliance brand Sub-Zero, the Classic Series side-by-side refrigerator/freezer uses semi-commercial cooling technology within a stainless steel profile.
