A New Chapter for Double Studio with Zouzou Rugs

For Zouzou Rugs, inspiration has always lived at the intersection of art, architecture and everyday life. Now, that sensibility meets Australian rug brand Double Studio in a seven-piece collection that brings together Zouzou’s distinctive Modernist language with Double Studio’s considered approach to materiality and washable design.

In partnership with Double Studio

The collaboration draws on Zouzou’s years living in France, first in Paris and then Marseille, where architecture, mid-century interiors, sun-faded colour and unexpected combinations quietly shaped its visual vocabulary. Rather than translating these influences literally, the collection distils them through bold geometry, considered proportion, colour and repetition. Some designs reference artists who have long informed Zouzou’s visual world, while others draw on places and memories from its time in France.

Founded in Australia from a fascination with early Modernist design, Zouzou Rugs has developed a distinctive language of expressive forms and unexpected colour. The collaboration with Double Studio takes this into a more tactile and practical realm, exploring four constructions and shifts in texture, depth and pile. Six designs feature 100 per cent New Zealand wool pile with organic cotton backing, alongside a vegan silk design made from recycled polyester.

Every rug is washable, bringing an element of ease to designs intended to feel collected rather than precious. “We wanted the rugs to still feel considered and special, but also very easy to live with,” says Zouzou Rugs.

It is this balance that defines the collection: expressive yet practical, informed by memory yet distinctly contemporary, and designed with longevity in mind. These are rugs made not simply to finish a room, but to become part of how it is lived in.
