3daysofdesign 2024 | Royal Danish Academy Presents Exhibition Tour

Fresh perspectives from emerging talents lie at the heart of every design festival. The Royal Danish Academy, renowned for its dedication to nurturing creativity, proudly presents an exhibition tour guided by its own graduates.

Titled “360°,” the exhibition invites visitors into the design process of fifty newly graduated designers and architects. Set against the industrial backdrop of Copenhagen’s Refshaleøen, this immersive showcase delves into the methodologies and processes shaping the future of design.

The exhibition encompasses a diverse array of projects, from furniture design to spatial design, strategic design, and fashion, clothing, and textiles. These projects offer valuable insights into current Danish architecture and design trends, reflecting the academy’s commitment to interdisciplinary exploration.

In a departure from conventional exhibitions, ‘360°’ challenges visitors to reconsider their perceptions of finished products. Instead, it offers a journey into the intricate processes that precede the final designs. This emphasis on the journey from idea to creation aligns with 3daysofdesign’s festival theme; ‘Dare to Dream,’ encouraging attendees to explore the transformative power of design thinking.

Underpinning the exhibition is the Royal Danish Academy’s dedication to nurturing emerging talent. Head of Institute Mathilde Serup underscores the importance of providing a platform for graduates to showcase their skills and innovative approaches. ‘360°’ not only highlights the expertise of the graduates but also fosters a dialogue between experimental innovation and established design practices.

Structured into two sections, the exhibition offers a comprehensive view of the design process. The first section showcases analyses, studies, and experimentation, providing a glimpse into the creative journey. In contrast, the second section presents the final products from each project in a multidisciplinary installation, offering a tangible representation of the graduates’ vision.

As visitors navigate ‘360°,’ they are invited to immerse themselves in the creativity and innovation driving the future of design. From exploring material explorations to gaining insights into collaborative methodologies, the exhibition stands as a testament to the transformative power of creativity.
