Melbourne architecture firm, Techne Architects have collaborated with local hospitality duo, Jamie and Loren McBride of Barry and Touchwoood fame, to design the couples new cafe venture, Mammoth.

Located in Armadale’s iconic triangle building on the corner of Malvern Road and Beatty Avenue, the Techne team have introduced visual interest to the white washed brick walls of the interior with floor mounted stools and a steel framed counter bench painted in cobalt clue with a musk pink cylindrical steel support. Pale timbers and blue-grey terrazzo tiling complete the relaxed and understated aesthetic.

Taking their design references and cues from summer holidays on the West Coast of the U.S and Wes Anderson films, Techne have created a little slice of American style right in the heart of what was once a twin set and pearl kind of destination.

Chef Emma Jeffrey has created a menu with a focus on balancing out healthy eating with some more indulgent treats like South Australian rock lobster served on a salt and pepper dusted doughnut.  We’re guessing a mammoth appetite might be required to down that one??
